Eight Syn-Free Slimming World Friendly Meals for Winter

1. Caprese Sheet Pan Chicken Breast

This Caprese Chicken is a winner because, not only is it healthy, it's a tray bake, one of my favourite meal types (sheet pan for our American friends). What's not to love about one pan to wash up? Chicken smothered with mozzarella? Yum! I'd be tempted to cube some potato and chuck that on the baking tray as well. I'd bet it's fab to top off a salad in the summer too.

Syn-free- use Hex A for the mozzarella. 222 calories plus potatoes.

2. Slow Cooker Lamb Madras

By The Improving Cook

Just because you're trying to be healthy, doesn't mean you're going to stop fancying a take away now and again. Well, my Slow Cooker Lamb Madras is far, far lower in calories, so feel free to enjoy a curry when you want one.

Syn-free. 180 calories plus rice.

3. Easy Salmon and Rice Parcels

Got leftover rice? You can use it up to make this super-easy salmon dish, packed full of flavour from being baked with tomato and lemon. It's so simple to prep, that it's perfect for kids to make.

Syn-free- use spray oil instead of olive oil. 380 calories inc oil.

4. Roast Potato Bolognese Bake

Now this is what I call comfort food! A layer of rich bolognese, topped off with roasted potatoes and little bit of cheese. I think you could easily super-size this recipe and portion for the freezer or work lunches. It's just the kind of dinner to warm you up on a cold evening after a long day.

Syn-free- use your Hex A for the cheese. 350 calories plus a side salad or additional veg.

5. Golden Lentil Barley Soup

This soup is like comfort in a bowl. It feels like the kind of thing that someone needs to bring you, when you're laid up with a cold. With turmeric and ginger, it's choc-a-block with goodness, vegan and just look and those beautiful colours!

Syn-free- use spray oil instead of olive oil. 315 calories.

6. Crusted Cod Bites

by The Improving Cook

A healthier twist on fish and chips- these crunchy cod bites are served with garlic and rosemary potatoes. They are fun to make, so a good recipe to get the kids involved with. Fish and chips without the grease!

Syn-free- use spray oil and Hex B for the bread. 220 calories plus veg.

Have you ever thought of roasting veg in the slow cooker? Well, here's your chance! Make chicken with all the flavour of the Med using this recipe and then dish it up with some couscous. It's a great alternative Sunday dinner, plus you can go out and have fun, leaving it to cook.

Syn-free. 200 calories plus cous cous.

There's nothing more filling and comforting than pasta, and this vegetarian pasta has more veg than you can shake a stick at. Positively virtuous and super-nutritious, I can see it being great for lunchboxes too.

Syn-free- drop the parmesan and use Hex A for the cream cheese. 390 calories.

So there you go- winter warming recipes that won't break the calorie bank. Put one on your weekly menu today!
