Most Popular Recipes of 2019 on the Improving Cook

Happy New Year! Hope 2019 has been a good year for you.

I have been doing my annual scoot through blog stats for the year, to see what 2019's most popular recipes were on The Improving Cook. Much like the last few years, slow cooker recipes feature heavily and dinner recipes continue to be the most popular. Read on to see which recipes made the list, followed up with some 2019 blog stats.

There are lots of new entries again this year- read on to find out more!

1. Slow Cooker Leek and Potato Soup

The most popular recipe every single year since the blog started, perhaps because it's so very easy to make. My slow cooker leek and potato soup recipe remains the most-visited recipe on the blog ever. It had over 20,000 visits just this year alone.

A new entry on last year's list, Beef Mince Hot Pot is a slight twist on a family classic. Loads of flavour and very easy to make- we fight over the leftovers! It has grown in popularity by 80% this year.

3. Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Gammon

This Brown Sugar Gammon recipe was in 7th position last year but has become more popular via Google search this year, especially in the run up to Christmas, an increase in visits of over 90%! It has very few ingredients and makes spectacular sandwiches.

Hands down, my personal favourite dinner recipe of recent years, this delicious salmon bake with a cheesy sauce and topped with sliced potatoes, has quickly become popular on both Pinterest and Google. It's a new entry this year, after being published at the end of 2018.

Inspired by the salmon bake above, this garlic chicken bake is almost as popular. Handy for using up leftover roast chicken, it has optional cheese or plain garlic sauce, depending on your preference.

6. Slow Cooker Mexican Chicken

This recipe entered the top ten for the first time last year, but has dropped by around 25% this year. I love its versatility- serve with rice, in tacos, tortillas or over jacket potatoes. All delicious and it freezes very well, so perfect for making in big batches.

This was one of my very first slow cooker recipes and is a very regular dinner in our house. It's light on the calories and very filling. It also freezes well, so we often make a big batch to freeze.

8.  Cajun Chicken and Bacon Traybake

Cajun Chicken and Bacon traybake went viral on Pinterest a couple of years ago and has continued to get good traffic. It's my go-to quick dinner for weeknights.

9. Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

A new recipe for the slow cooker last year. It is as easy, and as delicious as it sounds. Perfect served with rice for a real comfort food dinner in winter.

A new entry this year, this 'meal in one pan' recipe has been featured in a quite a few recipe round ups on other sites, boosting it's popularity by 3000% compared to the previous year! Chilli made with chunks of beef and potato- perfect winter comfort food.

Slow cooking only seems to be growing in popularity so more new recipes to come this year!

And just outside the top ten:
